Author & Artist profile Rosannah Killian
Rosannah Killian: writer, painter, wife and mother, lover of delicious foods, beauty and light, and adopted as a child of God.
.

Being an author or an artist was something that was never going to happen: such titles seemed too grand and distant a pinacle. Yet from childhood I loved creating pictures and loved imagining stories. So I jotted writings, doodled, sketched and painted because I enjoyed it, and, as I was sometimes pleased with the results, I kept on at it.
I began to get into my stride with painting as I discovered water-soluble oils. I had some helpful pointers along the way from family members, but I kept playing, kept learning - and still am learning.

As for writing, through childhood to adolescence I scribbled descriptions of fantastical scenes, dabbled in badly rhyming poetry, started the odd story and made serious inroads towards the first draft of a couple of epics. I began to glimpse how much effort writing a book would require. That brought me to a resolution: if I were to invest the time and effort into writing a book, it would have to be for a worthwhile purpose as otherwise I would dry up long before the end.

So what to write? What you believe will inevitably affect what you write. I know the redeeming love of God working in my life: it has to permeate my work. Thus my stories aim to share light: not to hide the darkness, but not to wallow in it either; to use it to see the beauty of light better. To give a reader a chance to explore my worlds of imagination and return to their own enriched.
